Open your minds, Open your hearts...
This photo is dedicated to for helping me with the title and being such a great and kindhearted person! Keep smiling that brilliant smile, He is shining down on you my friend!
When I saw this piece as a thumbnail in the Critiquable section, I didn't realize it was "son" and not "sun", I don't know why, but I guess my brain just skipped over it. "Touched by the Sun" I thought, lovely title. And then I read the actual title and I was stunned! Great job giving this picture a spiritual connection (at least, that's what I took it to be).
You've really captured the embodiment of peace and serenity in this moment. I don't think I've ever seen a lake so calm, or a sky so perfectly hued. Amazing moment here, and I think that's one of the biggest goals of photography – capture a moment. Beautiful horizon and combination of light and shadow. I was very impressed with the colours and how everything works together.
The only real problem this has is the framing. I think it needs to be cropped into a more visually pleasing framing style. The sun is off centre, and not in any special way. Just.. imperfect. The Rule of Thirds could easily be applied here, with the sun as a focal point. Even if you don't use some sort of pro method of deciding how to crop it, you should be aware that there is a lot of empty space in the top. A little of it could go.
Other than that, very impressive! This is a beautiful shot.
